. >> catherine: hundreds of people marched through santa rosa today. saying they want justice for andy lopez. two rallies merged into one on the campus of santa rosa junior college. then the group marched across town to the headquarters of the sonoma county sheriff's department. >> reporter: a very emotional night at santa rosa. we're talking about hundreds of people march showed up at the church for in the lopez and they'd just wrapped up in the last half an hour. you can see in this video shot the casket of and the lopez holding his body. his family surrounding the casket. people are entering the church and coming out of the church this evening. they are saying their goodbyes to the 13 year-old who was shot by the deputy last week. emotions here ran high. >> (crying) as a mother and i would hope that things would change in the community i will i really feel sorry for his mother. >> when i saw him come out of the car is heartbreaking you know? i had to lead it was very hard to justin and there. had to leave. the poor >> reporter: 10 live in santa rosa j.r. stone kron 4 news. >> catherine: protes
by a sheriff's deputy in santa rosa. >> reporter:hundreds of people gathered again for another rally in his honor.. kron 4's charles clifford is in santa rosa and has the latest. >> reporter:on wednesday afternoon, hundreds of people rallied in santa rosa, demanding justice for the death of 13-year-old andy lopez. >> reporter:meanwhile new details have emerged into exactly what happened that fatefull day here along moorland avenue. >> reporter:the santa rosa police department and petaluma police are investigating the shooting and they confirmed on wednesday that two deputies confronted andy lopez, but that only one...deputy erik gelhous.. fired his weapon. the other deputy, a trainee, was driving the patrol car and by the time he exited the vehicle, lopez had already been shot. >> reporter:we have also learned that a witness may have been driving just ahead of the patrol car and spotted lopez moments before the deputies did. >> he rolled out to them out his window and yelled that the young man should put his gun away because the police was were behind him. >> reporter:in santa rosa, charles

. the terminal reopened two hours later. >>> the family of a santa rosa teenager fatally shot by a sonoma deputy is set to file a lawsuit tomorrow. the sheriff's office says lopez was carrying a toy gun that looked like an assault rifle and that he refused to drop it. that is when the deputy opened fire. the federal civil rights suit claims the sheriff's department encourages the use of deadly force even when there's no threat to public safety. sonoma county says the investigation is still active and calls a lawsuit premature. >>> friends and family packed an auditorium in sparks nevada today to remember a teacher shot and killed on the campus of a middle school last month. investigators say michael lansbery died when he tried to intervene in a school shooting. the 23-year-old lansbary was a former marine. students said lansbery made learning fun. told jokes during class and was always there for student who is may be going through a rough patch. >>> officials say they are making gains and curving gang violence. the department budgeted just over $1 million for gang suppression this fiscal year. t
a bit. you can see the low clouds and the fog painting an interesting picture. 38 in santa rosa. a little fog in the north bay. low 40s out by the delta. we are looking at mid40s from concord to livermore. san jose, nice start to the day. temperatures will be into the 60s for highs today. out of the 70s for many. the cooling trend for the entire weekend, the gusty winds with a wind advisory for the higher elevations tonight. and then we are look at a chance of rain on thursday. a pattern change that really could open the storm door and bring in self-wet weather makers beyond next week. so that's good news. we are at least an inch behind in rainfall for san francisco for this time. today with the gusty winds we will be looking at the winds up to 45 miles an hour. this is tonight, 11:00 through 7:00 tomorrow. for the north bay mountains and the east bay hills nchts the diablo range and then by tomorrow the winds will be easing back, but it will still be breezy of the so it has been dry and mild due to high pressure, but that is drifting off to the east of us. it will allow the low

. >> a memorial is underway in santa rosa today for a teenager, andy lopez, who was shot and killed tuesday afternoon while walking with an air rifle resembling an ak-47. the deputy says he told lopez to drop the weapon but the teen turned and pointed the air rifle at him. the deputy opened fire and hit the teen seven times. the funeral is tomorrow. >>> a danville family is holding a mecklenberg -- holding a memorial right now for two children who died in a car accident a decade ago. they were riding a scooter and a bicycle on a city sidewalk when they were hit and killed by 45-year-old in 2003. she was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs. the memorial is underway at danville's sycamore elementary school. >> two more assist evidence living facilities in oakland and modesto have had their licenses suspended, both owned by the same person who owns the castro valley facility. 14 disabled patients were found cared for by just three people. we spoke by phone with the owner's attorney. he says the owner is severely ill and bed-ridden and disputes the allegations patients were ab
